Materials, Weldings and Painting

The materials used by SITAL for the construction of its containers, enclosures and containerized modular substations are always selected with the utmost attention to quality, to guarantee the best mechanical properties and a high durability. When the conditions of use or the reference specifications require it, special steels can be used such as:

  • Steels for low temperatures
  • Hot-dip galvanized steel
  • AISI 316L stainless steel


SITAL uses qualified welders in accordance with EN ISO 1564-1: 2015 and EN 9606-1. WPS welding procedures are carried out in compliance with the EN 15609 standard. On request, WPSs according to AWS D1.1 are possible.

Weld checks can be carried out by:

  • Test with penetrating liquids;
  • MPI test

Painting cycles
The automatic sandblasting and painting plants SITAL allows the satisfaction of very high quality standards, with the possibility of:

  • adapt to any cycle required by the end customer’s specifications
  • use painting cycles suitable for all the corrosivity and durability classes foreseen by the ISO 12944-5: 1998 standard, up to the C5M-H class, which guarantees a duration of >15 years in a highly corrosive environment.

When requested, the painting cycles can be validated by NACE or FROSIO inspector.
